In the book The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitgerald, there was a character names Jay Gatsby. Who went through some of the hero's journey. Although at the end of his journey he did not get what he wanted. Jay Gatsby still wen through the steps of the hero's journey. In my opinion I still think he dod go throug all the steps in the heros journey because he fought for what he belived. Jay gatsby separation was when he left for the war. He left the person he loved Daisy. Gatsby did not really have a calling he was forced to leave Daisy behind and go to the war. The threshold was when Gatsby actually has to say good-bye to Daisy as he was leaving. His descent was that he did not what was going to happen between him and Daisy, he loved her but he had to leave.
Gatsby initiation was when he met Dan Cody. He was going to help him though a lot of problems Gatsby was going to face. The abyss was when Gatsby did not know what was going to happen with his life. He got himself involved in a lot of business and even changed his name. Jay Gatsby's mentor was Dan Cody, he gave him alot of advice and helped make Gatsby who he was.
The transformation was when Gatsby beacame very wealthy. So that way he could get Daisy back. He bought a big house next to where Daisy lived. His transformation in a way was good, because he became very wealthy. The only thing that was not good about it was that he didn't change for himself he changed for Daisy.
When Gatsby returns to society he returns as a wealthy and mysterious man. People would even say he killed a man. He has a big house and always makes parties but no one knows him. He would only make parties in hope that Daisy would one day go. When he finally gets Daisy back, she bretayes him. She wont get divorced and she blames him for killed Martly when she was the one who did it. Gatsby sees himself left with nothing. All he ever worked for was Daisy and at the end he did not get her. He even got killed for her.
