Edgar Renteria final exam essay

The hero's journey is what the hero has to go through to become that hero. Every hero goes through a tragedy, and with a tragedy comes much more.

The hero's journey relates to the book The Giver, because the little boy(Jonas) goes through, tragedies, creations, mentoring, etc.

The calling for Jonas is when he was at the ceremony of twelve and got the job of being the receiver, and getting memories for the first time. The old man (the giver) is the mentor of Jonas. He is the one giving Jonas all the memories, and by these memories he felt emotions no one in the community has felt like love, hate, violence and how people could have choices.

The tragedy of The Giver is when Jonas finds out that Gabe (his little brother) is going to be released (killed) because he is different, he has colored eyes, like all the people that can receive memories which leads to Jonas's thresh hold which is when he decides he is going to leave the community.

Jonas abyss is when he gets Gabe because they were going to release him, so he got his bike and left the community. he didn't now where he was going but he new he was close, he heard music, the sound felt so good. for Jonas this was his transformation, he realized the world could be a better place.
