The Romance Hero
A great quote was mention in our journals. “Give me hero and I’ll write you a tragedy”. All heroes have remarkable stories to give out to an audience. However, nobody can surpass the romantic hero.
The romance hero always has a motif. As well as other things, like a faithful follower and a wise old man. The hero always tests his follower to establish that he is truly faithful. In spite that he is brave and strong there is always magic lurking around him. He has dreams of his destiny. Then, as shocking news he has been betrayed. These are certain qualities that a romantic hero carries with him.
Beowulf by Anglo-Saxon Traditional and The Great Gatsby by F. Scot Fitzgerald, they were amazing romantic hero stories. You can see in these stories that both heroes have a motif. They have faithful followers and wise old men that help them along their adventure. In their tragedies they both came with betrayal. As a romantic hero they have a motif and the motif is always about a woman. Women are the motifs for what the heroes adventure for. Their wish is to be together and live happily ever after with their mistress.
Out of the stories I might agree that The Great Gatsby was a great book. Gatsby was a great man who fell in love with Daisy. Daisy was wealthy and was marry to man with great wealth as well, Tom. They both have a young daughter. However, knowing that she married it did not stop Gatsby from loving her. The amazing story takes an adventure that goes through betrayal and murder.
In my conclusion I see that most heroes are romantic. They mostly fight for having a lady. With adventure and troubles, some succeed others do not. “Give me a hero and I’ll write you a tragedy”. A great quote, that should be in all heroes’ hearts.
