Riley Rowe

When someones lost they go through very deep, emotional, inside problems and accomplishments through out the journey. The Hero's Journey Chuck went through in Cast Away will be broken down and described in this paper. The hurdles Chuck had to climb over and the accomplishments he obtained in this journey really completed the Hero's Journey in my oppinion.
The separation with Chuck was harsh as he would think later on in the movie. He left his wife and went on a business trip transported by plane. The calling, or the reason he had to go, was because it was a business trip he had to go. The threashold was when he told his wife that he would be back. The decent of his journey was when the plane crashed and he finds an island to live on.
The island gets a little lonely for Chuck so he makes an imaginary friend out of a volleyball that washed up from the plane wreck. He uses his blood to paint a face on it and he calles it Wilson. Wilson is known as the mentor in this ourney because he really helped out Chuck in many ways. The abyss of his journey was the dark, mysterious island he lived on which he knew nothing about. The transformation for him was him understanding that he had to survive and get to know the island he was living on. It was him addapting to his enviornment and getting smater in all types of ways.
The return for Chuck was unreal. He couldn't really believe that he had survived and was in a way shocked. The way he escaped was unreal as well. He made a raft out of logs and sailed for days and days until a ship found him drifting away. When he got to sivilization the only thing that he wanted to do was see his wife, that was the only thing keeping him alive. But he soon found out that his wife mooved on and got a husband. So another part of the return was for him to move on.
Chuck went through many phases in his journey that many people don't recognize when your lost. A heroe's journey changes a person and makes the person smarted and wiser in many ways so that is why chuck has endoured a complete hero's journey because he has changed him in many ways as a person.
